Shirley Roskamp, RDH
Shirley is a native of Rantoul, Illinois, and graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1971. She graduated from Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois in 1987 with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, Certificate in Dental Hygiene. While at Parkland, Shirley was honored with the award for Outstanding Dental Hygiene Student.
Our practice was extremely fortunate to attract Shirley to Quincy after her graduation to start our Prevention & Hygiene Department. She developed a preventive program from scratch, and has overseen the evolution of periodontal disease prevention from the ‘scraping’ approach to treatment, to today’s less invasive irrigation and pharmacologic-chemical based therapies. She has taken numerous post-graduate courses in Soft Tissue Management, Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy, pharmacology, computer and prevention department management.
Shirley is licensed to practice Dental Hygiene in Illinois, and is a member of the Illinois State Dental Society as a Hygiene Member. She is married to Don, a farmer in the Sutter, Illinois area. She has two children, Jason, who is a state policeman in Colorado, and Katie, a graduate student. Her hobbies include cross-stitch, crafts, and reading.
