German Village Society Improvement Award Cecil Haskins, President of the German Village Society of Quincy, awarded the Obrock family with a "Pride of the German Village" plaque at the annual German dinner held at the Senior Citizens Center at 7th & York. The award recognizes a German Village area home or business that has made improvements to their property, in keeping with German design and heritage. Founded in 1984, the German Village Society preserves Quincy’s German Heritage by 1) promoting German traditions, 2) encouraging preservation of German architecture, 3) giving talks and slide shows on Germany, genealogy and Quincy German history, 4) and sponsoring an annual German dinner.
